TomTom joins the mobility club

TomTom, the geolocation technology specialist based in the Netherlands, joined the Mobility Club – Via ID’s acceleration platform for mobility players, created in 2018 – to collaborate with new and innovative partners.

TomTom: The global geolocation technology specialist

Founded in 1991 (under the name Palmtop Software), TomTom is the world’s leading independent geolocation technology specialist. They have been providing their customers with apps and sat navs with live traffic, fresh maps and more for years. More than 30 years of insights leading to the construction of maps, digital cockpit solutions, navigation software, routing and ETAs, APIs and traffic data for all.

Today, their ambition is to develop interoperable open map data worldwide. To do so, they’ve been focusing on collaborative innovation and working with partners like Microsoft, Stellantis, Uber, Volkswagen Group, Loop and Hyundai Motor Group. Indeed, they’ve been collecting resources all around the world to create the largest, richest geolocation database available.

In December 2022, TomTom even announced – along with Amazon Web Services (AWS), Meta, and Microsoft – the creation of the “Overture Maps Foundation” in order to develop interoperable open map data.

TomTom x Mobility Club: the partnership

Why join the Mobility Club by Via ID? Considering TomTom’s ambition to disrupt the mapping and location technology through collaborative innovation, and the Mobility Club’s wish to gather mobility players in order to help them build and apply their innovation strategy, this partnership makes total sense. Indeed, joining the Mobility Club is the opportunity for the Dutch company to:

  • Collaborate with new and innovative partners
  • Democratize knowledge on location-based services

These consistent resources are in line with TomTom’s ambition to develop interoperable open map data!

It takes the world to map the world. TomTom is on a mission to disrupt the mapping and location technology. We’re thrilled to become an active member of the Via ID Mobility Club. This partnership will be the opportunity to collaborate with new and innovative partners alongside democratizing knowledge on location-based services.
