For the 5th edition of the European Startup Prize for Mobility, 50 sustainable mobility startups were chosen from over 700 applicants from 39 countries.
Founded in 2017 thanks to a joint initiative by Via ID, and Karima Delli, Chair of the European Parliament’s Committee on Transport and Tourism, the European Startup Prize for Mobility aims to support the best European sustainable mobility startups in their development in Europe.
Following the launch of its 5th call for projects on April 19 at the Ministry of Transport in Paris, the European Startup Prize for Mobility broke all previous records by receiving more than 700 applications.
Here are some of the figures for this year’s candidates (based on eligible startups) :

+40%

63%
of these startups are helping to reduce the carbon footprint of mobility
+20%

33%

Eligible startups were evaluated by more than 90 independent experts from the mobility sector, based on a number of criteria, including:
- Their business model (innovation, market, execution, team).
- Their social and environmental responsibility (environmental impact and climate, social and territorial inclusion).
- And their potential for development on a European scale.
Today, the European Startup Prize for Mobility is proud to unveil its TOP 50 most promising European mobility startups.
This TOP 50, which is the result of an analysis of 700 candidates conducted by Via ID using a robust methodology, illustrates the diversity of countries and proves that innovation in the field of mobility is everywhere in Europe.
Every start-up in this TOP 50 has the potential to go European.
We would like to thank the 100+ evaluators from all over Europe who have supported us throughout this first phase. We can’t wait to find out who will make it into the TOP 10, and have the chance to be supported in their international expansion!
What are the next steps in the European Startup Prize for Mobility?
- Each startup in the TOP 50 will pitch to the jury, made up of the EUSP co-founders and partners. The TOP10 winners as well as the special prizes for the 5th edition will then be determined and announced on October 19.
- The Awards Ceremony will take place on October 26 at the European Parliament in Brussels, bringing together the 10 winning startups, the “Special Prizes” and the entire European Startup Prize for Mobility ecosystem (partners, VCs, co-founders, press, institutions, etc.).
What opportunities await the future TOP 10?
The selected startups will have access to customized support from Roland Berger, as well as privileged access to Via ID‘s acceleration program, specially designed to support their expansion on a European scale.
They will also have the opportunity to seize investment opportunities at a Demo Day attended by over 100 European investors and corporates.
What’s more, these startups will be getting involved in the forthcoming European parliamentary elections by presenting their own Manifesto next spring, designed with the startup community behind the prize.
In terms of visibility, they will be able to present their projects at high-profile events such as Slush, Web Summit and Lucerne Dialogue as well as at the European Parliament. They will also benefit from increased visibility thanks to the communication provided by the European Startup Prize for Mobility (EUSP).
Finally, in parallel with the EUSP acceleration and investment program, the “Special Prizes” awarded by the Prize partners will provide further opportunities for visibility and commercial partnerships for the projects selected.
